Dear Volunteers, Partners, and Supporters,
Over the last 15 years, Dallas Bonavita has been the visionary force behind Note in the Pocket. Under her leadership, we have grown from a grassroots effort into a vital nonprofit pillar of Wake and Durham counties, clothing thousands of children and families with dignity and love.
Following the loss of her husband this past October, Dallas has made the difficult decision to step down as Executive Director to focus on her family. While this marks the end of a remarkable era, the Board of Directors fully supports her decision, believing this transition is the right step for Dallas, her family, and the long-term health of Note in the Pocket.
Celebrating Dallas’s Impact
It is impossible to overstate Dallas’s impact on our community. We will be celebrating Dallas’s legacy and the impressive milestones achieved at our annual Sneaker Ball this fall.
Ensuring Continuity and Stability
The Board is committed to using this transition as an opportunity to build upon Dallas’s work. To ensure stability and momentum during this time:
- Interim Leadership: We are pleased to announce that Michael Seaman has stepped in as our Interim Executive Director effective Monday, February 16th. As a former founder and ED with transitional leadership experience, Michael brings the background and stability necessary to lead our daily operations during this period.
- Executive Search: A transition committee, composed of select Board members and a specialized external agency, has been formed to conduct a comprehensive search for our permanent Executive Director.
Our Mission Continues
Our work does not pause. The children and families we serve rely on our consistency, and our commitment to them remains as fierce as ever. We are profoundly grateful for your continued trust, donations, and your hands-on service as we enter this next chapter.
With gratitude,
Jeremy Petranka
Board Chair
