FAQs

A list of some of our most frequently asked questions is provided below. Don’t see the answer to your question? Use the search bar at right or contact us for more information.

Donations

How does Note in the Pocket identify families in need?

We partner with school social workers and local agencies that work with families in financial crisis to identify students in need of clothing assistance. Visit Our Mission page to learn more.

What types of clothing items do you accept?

New and gently used shoes and clothing of all sizes are accepted for donation, but the items most useful to our students are school appropriate clothing items in size 5T through adult.

What items are most needed?

Visit our Wish List page.

Where can I drop off donations?

Please visit our Donate Clothing & Supplies page for details on donation drop offs.

Can I get a tax receipt?

Yes! While we are happy to issue receipts for tax purposes, we cannot assign a monetary value to your clothing donations. The IRS advises that it is up to the donor to estimate the fair market value of a donation. Email us at info@noteinthepocket.org for more information.

Can someone come pick up our clothing donations?

At this time, we are unable to pick up clothing donations. They will need to be brought to one of the drop off locations.

Volunteering

Can my child volunteer with Note in the Pocket?

Children aged 13-15 may volunteer at Note in the Pocket when accompanied 1:1 by an adult. Children age 16 may volunteer unaccompanied. Families with younger children can also host a clothing drive.

Can I be a delivery driver or pick up donations?

Yes! Drivers must be at least 21 years of age.

Can I do my court-ordered community service with Note in the Pocket?

Yes. Please note that requests for Community Service letters must be approved in advance. NITP provides letters for documented traffic violations only (no DUI violations).

Do you accept interns?

Please visit our Career & Intern Opportunities page to view any available positions.

Referrals

How do I report a child in need?

Please visit our Referral Partners page to learn more about how to become a referral partner and submit clothing requests.
