Empowering the Next Generation: Become a Teen Board Mentor

Some of our amazing mentors from the 2025-2026 school year.

Are you passionate about supporting our youth and fostering the next generation of community leaders? Note in the Pocket is looking for dedicated adult mentors to join our Teen Board program in both Wake and Durham Counties.

This is more than just a volunteer opportunity; it is a chance to guide high school students as they navigate the complexities of nonprofit work and leadership development.

The Teen Board is a leadership program composed of local high school students from across the Triangle who are committed to Note in the Pocket’s mission. These “community ambassadors” gain hands-on experience by supporting and managing projects, hosting clothing drives, and participating in major events like the Socks & Undie 5K Rundie.

As a mentor, you will help guide and provide students with:

  • Organizational Insight
  • Skill Development
  • Strategic Support

We are looking for adults who can commit to:

  • Monthly Meetings: Attending sessions from September through May (school year)
  • Project Guidance: Supporting student groups during their specific initiatives and volunteer hours
  • Consistency: Being a reliable sounding board for students as they work through their “Board of Directors 101” training and fundraising goals.

By sharing your experience, and your time, you help nurture a heart for service in these students. The goal of the Teen Board is to ensure these young leaders develop and hone their leadership skills and carry what they’ve learned into the future, continuing to serve and improve the lives of children for years to come.

Ready to make an impact?

If you are ready to help develop the community leaders of tomorrow, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to Kristina Isaac at kristina@noteinthepocket.org to learn more about becoming a mentor.
